Status checked September 14, 2026: Wild Spring Dunes says its Tom Doak-designed 18-hole course is now open, with public tee times available through the end of 2027. It is a walking-only course in Mount Enterprise, East Texas.

Is Wild Spring Dunes open?
Yes. The operator now describes Wild Spring Dunes as open and says all 18 holes became available for public play on September 8, 2026. Tee times are offered through the end of 2027. That distinction matters because older previews may describe the property as a future project or refer only to limited early access.
Golfers should still verify their exact date on the official tee sheet. “Open” does not mean every date has inventory, and the course notes that availability can be limited. Its Tee Time Assistant can send an email and text when a matching slot appears, but a notification does not reserve the time.
What makes the course distinctive?
Wild Spring Dunes occupies part of a property of more than 2,400 acres in the pine country of East Texas. The operator identifies four recurring landscape types: pine and hardwood forest, open meadow, rolling sandy ground, and spring-fed ravines. Those features are more useful to trip planning than broad marketing labels because they explain why the course is designed around walking, changes in elevation, and natural transitions between holes.
Tom Doak routed the course around the existing contours. The official guest guide lists Stadium Zoysia fairways and TifEagle Bermuda greens. We are treating those as operator specifications—not as an independent assessment of firmness, speed, turf maturity, or condition. Opening-season presentation can evolve quickly, so golfers seeking day-specific conditions should ask the course directly.

Compare the full trip cost, not only the green fee. A walking caddie is listed at $150 per player with gratuity included, while a forecaddie is listed at $50 per player with gratuity included. Confirm assignment and charges during booking because services and policies can change.
Caddies and the walking experience
A walking caddie carries the bag and can assist with yardages, green reading, strategy, club selection, and course knowledge. A forecaddie walks with the group and focuses on similar navigation and pace-of-play tasks without carrying each player’s bag. Preferred-caddie requests are accepted but not guaranteed.
Because personal push carts are not currently permitted, bag weight deserves attention. Remove duplicate accessories, old balls, unnecessary apparel, and bulky packaging before the trip. Arrival and practice facilities
The official guest guide recommends arriving at least 30 minutes before the tee time. That window covers check-in, a short warm-up, and meeting the caddie. Guests currently have access to a hitting area near The Hitching Post and a complimentary stretching area, rather than a conventional full driving-range session.
This is important for pre-round preparation: arrive physically ready, avoid planning a long range routine, and confirm any facility changes before departure. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks, and grab-and-go items are listed at The Hitching Post. Outside food, drinks, and coolers are not permitted.
Location and lodging considerations
The property is at 21043 US-259 in Mount Enterprise. The operator estimates roughly two and a half to two and three-quarter hours from Houston or Dallas–Fort Worth and about 90 minutes from Shreveport Regional Airport. These are planning estimates, not guaranteed drive times; weather, road works, and departure point matter.
On-site lodging is not yet available according to the current guest guide. The property recommends The Fredonia Hotel in downtown Nacogdoches and says reservations staff can help with information. Confirm both accommodation and tee time before purchasing non-refundable travel.
